Oil Refining
Ural Refinery’s commercial divisions are refining and trading. The Ural Refinery’s collaboration with major refineries in China and Russia resulted in a processing capacity of over 300,000 barrels per day. This facility oversees the operations of the Ural Refinery, product supply, bio and intermediate feedstock, and gas logistics. The Ural Refinery produces petrochemicals and other goods. It operates three competitive inland refineries in Russia and China, with an annual capacity of 13 million tons.
With the assistance of experts from the Kazakhstan Academy of Sciences’ Institute for Issues of Hydrocarbon Processing, the company is updating its catalytic cracking catalysts. The Kazakhstan Institute of Catalysis is responsible for the development of hydro-process catalysts. Scientists in Kazakhstan have already developed catalysts for hydrotreating middle distillates, enabling them to produce a sulfur-free product that meets all Euro-5 specifications. The refining operations of the Company have recently been focused on meeting market demand for premium petroleum products.
Ural Refinery has been able to broaden its product range, improve product quality, and become more competitive as a result of refinery renovations over time. The reconstruction of this oil refinery is a watershed moment in Kazakhstan’s history. Environmental class K5 motor fuels were produced at a 100% rate for Kazakhstan’s domestic market during the program’s implementation. Many of the Company’s refineries have started producing AI-95-K5 Euro-6 and AI-100-K5 motor gasoline with improved operational and environmental properties since 2022.
The refinery manufactures liquid paraffin, aromatics, roofing and insulation materials, as well as other petroleum products. High-quality bitumen, jet fuel, roofing materials, diesel fuel, and other products are produced at the refinery. Every year, the Ural Refinery expands its industrial facilities. The refinery is working on a tiered process flow diagram innovation strategy to improve industrial and environmental safety, increase petroleum product quality, and reduce operating expenses while increasing expenditures.
By changing the composition of raw materials and rearranging component flows throughout the corporation’s refineries, the company expects to have a synergistic impact after modernization. Implementing Ural Refinery efficiency management and operational expenditure optimization strategies, as well as improved control over investment program implementation and refinery support project implementation timetable optimization, will all have a positive impact.
A strategy for implementing the Ural Refinery integration synergy has been developed and approved to ensure that this potential is realized, and its successful implementation will significantly increase the oil refinery block’s efficiency. The refinery will have processed 1 million tons of crude oil by the end of 2022, ensuring its dominance in Kazakhstan refining volumes.
